Missions

Making God known to others is a key value of Freeway. Therefore we support a number of local and overseas missions.

Samaritan’s Purse – Its one way we can all make a difference and spread God’s love.

GLENYS & BRUCE WATERS

Bruce and Glenys are members of our church but are also long term members of Wycliffe. Bruce has a background in Applied Maths and Linguistics and Glenys in primary school teaching and literacy education. Wycliffe is commited to assisting minority language communities to have access to the Scriptures in their own language. Wycliffe assist such communities to translate the Scriptures into their language, develop Literacy programs to help people to be able to read, develop dictionaries, document the grammar of the language and help establish vernacular literacy programs in schools. They do this by partnering with and building capacity in local organisations and communities.

Bruce and Glenys worked in Bible translation and literacy work with the Djinang people of North East Arnhem Land (1976-1987), with various people groups in PNG (1988-2003) but are now based in Melbourne. Glenys teaches at Wycliffes’s training institute and oversees a Literacy Support project in the Solomon Islands. Bruce has moved from translation work into full time work on his other passion – writing software to help Bible translators and supporting its use. The program he wrote in 2000 to help nationals with translation adaptation is now supported by a small team of developers and used world wide. They are continually upgrading and improving its features to fit with users needs and new advances in technology.

Baptist World Aid
We also support the work of Light FM and struggling local churches.
